website.
The IFOS Program tests fish oil products for:
- Dioxins and furans (results in ppt)
- Dioxin-like PCBs (results in ppt)

- Essential fatty acids (results in mg/g)
- Oxidation (peroxide, anisidine, total oxidation; results in
meq/kg)
- Mercury (results in 10 ppb)
- Cadmium (results in ppm)
- Lead (results in ppm)
- Arsenic (results in ppm)
- Acid value (results in KoH/g)

Why should I test my product through
IFOS?
Enrolling in the IFOS Program is the ultimate marketing tool for
the fish oil industry.
Once a product is tested through the IFOS Program, consumers
around the world can then access a product-specific batch report,
known as a Consumer Report, confirming
the testing results.
The Consumer Report is based on a 5-star rating
system, providing customers with an easy to understand,
scientifically validated way to compare products and brands.
What is the 5-star rating
system?
Products are awarded stars on a cumulative basis, for a total of
5 possible stars. For every testing category a product passes, it
is awarded one star. The star ranking appears on each product's Consumer
Report, helping consumers and other companies compare products
easily.

The IFOS Certification Mark
The IFOS Certification Mark (available to gold and silver IFOS
subscribers) is a seal of approval that
can be placed on product labels. The Certification Mark
lets consumers know that a product line has been tested and
certified by the IFOS Program.
