Enrolling in the IFOS Program
As the omega-3 industry grows, brand differentiation through scientific validation is critical. The
program provides a unique marketing tool for companies to profile omega-3 products to the market place
and gain a competitive advantage. Companies enroll in the program to demonstrate premium product cleanliness
and verify the omega-3 concentration as displayed on the product label.
The reporting function entitled Consumer Report is based on testing parameters defined by the Council for
Responsible Nutrition and the World Health Organization. An annual subscription rate and report generation
fee are applicable. The testing categories include essential fatty acid analysis, oxidation testing, PCB
detection, heavy metals, and dioxin and furan detection. Certificates of Analysis will accompany all results.
All testing is conducted in house or through accredited reference laboratories. Testing fees are based on
sample type and analysis required.
Please note that the testing servicesare available to companies even when not enrolled in IFOS Program web
reporting. Many companies use Nutrasource's testing services for third party internal quality control.
